Anambra state has recorded the first case of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in a tweet confirmed that 17 new cases were recorded as at half past nine yesterday evening.
Confirming the news via telephone, with Radio Nigeria’s Correspondent Uche Ndeke, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Don Adinuba said the index case apparently entered the state before the boundaries were closed about two weeks ago.
The commissioner enjoined residents to maintain personal hygiene while observing the regulations offered by the government and health experts on the COVID-19 pandemic.
“People must observe social distancing because the easiest way to contract the virus is by coming near a person, touching him or her.”
Mr Adinuba said.
The Commissioner for Information said the state has begun tracing persons who may have come in contact with the index case, urging the residents not to panic.
